GUWAHATI: A woman was allegedly caught stealing goods worth around ₹8,000 from a shopping mall at Dergaon Chariali in Assam on Thursday night.

According to mall staff, the woman entered M Bazaar posing as a customer and allegedly concealed several items under her clothes while shopping inside the mall.
Employees later noticed her activities and stopped her, leading to a commotion at the premises.
The woman subsequently paid for the items, following which the mall employees allowed her to leave.
According to the Aadhaar card recovered from her, the woman was identified as Smriti Rekha Mahanta, a resident of Chinamara in Jorhat.
No further details regarding a police complaint or legal action were immediately available.
