GUWAHATI: Four alleged drug peddlers were arrested and 111 grams of heroin seized during a targeted anti-narcotics operation carried out by Basistha Police in the Khanapara area of Guwahati, officials said on Sunday, June 7.

The operation was conducted at Khanapara Golpark and near the Veterinary College parking area, resulting in the recovery of heroin concealed in 14 tobacco boxes. Police also seized 100 empty vials, three mobile phones, ₹1,550 in cash and a two-wheeler.
In a parallel action, police rescued 11 drug addicts from the area and sent them to a rehabilitation centre for treatment and counselling.
The arrested individuals were identified as Bikash Ali (26) of Kopalkata in Sonapur, Riyan Deori alias Rinku (39) of Debanagar in Khanapara, Manik Rajbongshi (40) of Garoghuli in Garchuk, and Mukut Mandal (26) of Swadesh Nagar in Khanapara.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused. The investigation is underway.
