GUWAHATI:The Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), North East Regional Centre, Guwahati, has terminated the contractual services of its physician, Dr Jyoti Prasad Barman, with immediate effect.

According to an official notice issued by the institute on September 9, Dr Barman’s contractual service as Physician at LNIPE, NERC, has been terminated on administrative grounds.
The notice was issued by the Dean of the North East Regional Centre.
The notice does not specify further details regarding the administrative grounds for the termination.
The development comes amid scrutiny over the circumstances surrounding the death of LNIPE student Shruti Upadhyay, with students and her family seeking accountability and strict action in the matter.
