GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet has approved financial support for the functioning of Madhupur Satra and changes to rules governing municipal corporation elections in the state.

The Cabinet approved ₹1 lakh per month from the Chief Minister's Scheme for Public Emergency to support the functioning of the Madhupur Satra.
In another decision, the Cabinet approved the Assam Municipal Corporation Election (Amendment) Rules, 2026.
The amendment will empower the Court of the District Judge of the concerned district to deal with matters related to municipal corporation elections.
