GUWAHATI: The Kamrup Police, along with the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police, seized a huge consignment of drugs in Amingaon near Guwahati on Thursday, May 14.

In a post on X, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the narcotics were being smuggled into Assam through a bus arriving from a neighbouring state. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police intercepted the vehicle in Amingaon and recovered 2.5 kg of heroin and 8 kg of opium.
The seized contraband is estimated to be worth around ₹21.36 crore in the international market.
Police have arrested five persons in connection with the case, and further investigation is underway.
