In an official communication dated June 24, addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of Morigaon, GMDA stated that, as per the directions of the Chief Minister, planning activities for the proposed industrial township will now be confined to the erstwhile Nagaon Paper Mill area. The project will cover land belonging to the Assam Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC), GMDA and government land situated behind the Dalmia Cement Factory near Junbeel.

The authority clarified that the Killing Forest area, including Sindhishar, Bihita, Naldhara and Roumari, is no longer part of the proposed township project.

As a result, the proposed Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) process for residents of the Killing Forest area will not be pursued in connection with the satellite township project, the letter stated.

The clarification comes amid concerns among residents over the possibility of eviction and displacement following discussions around the proposed township.

Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika shared the GMDA letter on social media, stating that the clarification should dispel misunderstandings regarding the inclusion of villages under the Jagiroad constituency in the satellite township project. He said the government remains committed to the welfare of local residents and urged people not to be misled by rumours surrounding the project.
