The meeting was chaired by the District Commissioner of Dhubri, Megha Nidhi Dahal, who urged all concerned departments to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and diligence to ensure the smooth conduct of the festivities across the district.
According to a statement from the administration, the District Commissioner directed the Health Department to station ambulances at heavily crowded Idgah venues to respond to any medical emergencies.
He further instructed that doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel remain on duty at government healthcare facilities throughout the day.
The District Veterinary Officer was asked to carry out inspection and certification duties as required.
The District Commissioner also briefed attendees on the provisions of the Assam Cattle Preservation Act, 2021, emphasising that the Act strictly prohibits the slaughter, sale, and transportation of cattle without valid permits.
He noted that the sale of beef is illegal in areas predominantly inhabited by Hindu, Jain, or Sikh communities, or within a five-kilometre radius of any temple or satra.
Under the Act, cattle, defined to include cows, bulls, bullocks, calves, and buffaloes, may only be slaughtered if the animal is over 14 years of age and has been permanently incapacitated from work or breeding due to accidental injury or deformity.
As per the statement, the District Commissioner made clear that no exception or relaxation to the Act would be permitted.
As per the statement, he further noted that any permissible slaughter must take place exclusively at certified slaughterhouses. Since there are no certified slaughterhouses in Dhubri District, no cattle slaughter will be permitted within the district. He urged the representatives of mosques and Idgahs present at the meeting to inform their respective communities about the provisions of the Act, so as to prevent any untoward incidents.
The District Superintendent of Police (SSP), Debashis Borah, assured that Dhubri Police would remain fully vigilant and would take prompt and necessary action against any third-party elements attempting to create a disturbance or disrupt communal harmony.
The meeting was attended by the Mosque Committees of Boro Masjid, Jame Masjid, Baluchar Jame Masjid, Naya Masjid, and various Idgahs.
