Sarma said the focus areas were discussed during his meeting with Japanese Ambassador to India Ono Keiichi at the envoy's official residence in New Delhi.

The two sides discussed the outcomes of the India-Japan Summit and the opportunities it offers Assam under the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership, particularly in semiconductor research, clean energy and Japanese language training.

In a post on X, Sarma described the meeting as a "productive exchange" and said he reaffirmed Assam's commitment to contributing to the growing strategic partnership between India and Japan.

"I am grateful to H.E. Mr. Ono Keiichi, Ambassador of Japan to India, for hosting me at his residence in New Delhi for Cha-no-yu, the traditional Japanese tea ceremony," Sarma wrote.

The meeting comes as Assam continues to engage with Japan in areas such as industry, technology, skill development and infrastructure. The state has been pursuing Japanese investment and technical collaboration in high-technology manufacturing, renewable energy and human resource development.
