The problem has reportedly worsened following the Bol Bom festivities, during which several bhandaras were organised near the temple. Waste generated from these temporary settlements was allegedly dumped along the Brahmaputra riverbank, leaving large quantities of garbage scattered across the area.

Concerns have been raised that continued dumping of waste could pose a threat to the river and its surrounding environment.

Apart from food and other waste from the bhandaras, idols have also reportedly been kept along the riverbank. The practice has raised further concerns over the cleanliness of the area and the potential impact of religious waste on the Brahmaputra.

The condition of the riverbank has also drawn attention to the need for better waste management and regular monitoring, particularly during festivals and religious gatherings that attract large crowds to the area.
