GUWAHATI: Commercial LPG cylinder prices have been increased by ₹993 on Friday, May 1, amid continued increases in global energy prices driven by the ongoing conflict in West Asia, while domestic LPG rates remain unchanged.

This marks the sharpest single increase to date. It follows earlier hikes of ₹195.50 per cylinder on April 1 and ₹114.50 on March 1, taking the total rise over the past three months to ₹1,303.
Domestic LPG prices, used by households, remain unchanged, offering relief to consumers. Similarly, aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices for domestic airlines have not been revised. However, jet fuel prices for international carriers have been increased by 5 percent.
Domestic LPG rates were last revised on March 7, when prices were raised by ₹60 per cylinder.
State-run oil marketing companies adjust LPG and ATF prices on the first day of every month, aligning them with global benchmarks and fluctuations in currency exchange rates.
The recent price adjustments come against the backdrop of a sharp surge in global oil prices, which have risen by nearly 50 percent in recent weeks. The spike is largely attributed to disruptions in energy supply chains caused by ongoing tensions in West Asia and instability in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil transportation.
