GUWAHATI: The Assam Government on Thursday, May 14, officially allocated portfolios to four ministers following the recent expansion of the State Cabinet under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

According to an official communication issued by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, the proposed allotment of portfolios was approved and assigned to the newly inducted ministers.
As per the notification, senior BJP leader Rameswar Teli has been entrusted with the departments of Transformation and Development, Labour Welfare, and Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare.
AGP president Atul Bora has been allocated Panchayat and Rural Development, Implementation of Assam Accord, Border Protection and Development, and Excise departments.
Meanwhile, BPF leader Charan Boro has been given charge of the Transport Department along with Welfare of Bodoland.
Senior BJP leader Ajanta Neog has been assigned the Women and Child Development and Tourism portfolios.
The allocation comes days after the swearing-in ceremony of chief minister Sarma along with the four ministers, marking a fresh distribution of responsibilities.
The swearing in ceremony of the new Assam government was held on May 12 in Guwahati, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, several Union Ministers, and chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from NDA-ruled states attending the event.
