The decision was announced by the authorities of Manas Tiger Reserve through an official order issued on Saturday, May 16. During the closure period, all tourist activities inside the reserve, including jeep safaris, elephant safaris and boating services, will remain suspended.
Officials said the move has been taken in accordance with guidelines issued by the National Tiger Conservation Authority under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
The order was issued by C. Ramesh, Chief Conservator of Forests and Field Director of Manas Tiger Reserve.
According to forest officials, the annual monsoon closure is part of routine conservation measures aimed at reducing human disturbance in wildlife habitats and enabling habitat management activities during the rainy season.
Authorities added that the park will reopen for visitors only after further notification.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Manas National Park is among India’s prominent wildlife reserves and a major ecotourism destination in the Northeast.
