GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has imposed a fine of ₹1,000 on a business establishment on Bhupen Hazarika Path in Ward No. 23 for dumping garbage on the road, as part of the civic body's ongoing enforcement drive against violations of municipal regulations.

The penalty receipt, dated July 7, and issued by the GMC, records the fine as having been collected from the establishment for the offence of littering waste on a public road.
The corporation said such enforcement action is being carried out across different parts of Guwahati to identify unauthorised dumping and other civic violations, with inspections being intensified to ensure compliance with municipal rules on waste disposal. Officials reiterated that dumping garbage on roads or in public places would continue to invite fines and other action under existing regulations, and that similar drives would be carried out in other wards as part of routine monitoring.
GMC has urged citizens to dispose of waste responsibly and use designated bins, calling cleanliness a shared civic responsibility. "Let's work together for a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful Guwahati," the corporation said, adding that strict action will continue against those found dumping garbage on roads and in public spaces across the city.
