GUWAHATI: Commercial LPG cylinder prices were reduced by up to ₹183.50 across major cities on Wednesday, July 1, marking the first cut this year and providing relief to hotels, restaurants and small businesses. The revised rates took effect on July 1, while domestic LPG prices remained unchanged nationwide.

State-owned oil marketing companies cut the price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder by ₹183.50 in Delhi and Lucknow. Chandigarh saw a reduction of ₹181.50, Kolkata ₹174 and Patna ₹173.

Following the revision, the cylinder now costs ₹2,930 in Delhi, ₹2,954.50 in Chandigarh, ₹3,081.50 in Kolkata (down from ₹3,255.50), and ₹3,227 in Patna.

The reduction follows a series of price increases earlier this year, including hikes of ₹111 in January and ₹195.50 in April amid volatility in global energy markets linked to tensions in West Asia. Domestic LPG prices were also raised by ₹60 in March and by ₹29 in June, taking the retail price of a 14.2-kg cylinder in Delhi to ₹942 from ₹913.

The latest cut follows easing supply constraints for commercial and industrial users after earlier restrictions imposed to prioritise household demand. The government had directed that C3-C4 streams be used exclusively for LPG production under the Essential Commodities Act during earlier disruptions and instructed oil marketing companies to maintain detailed data on commercial and industrial consumers for supply management.
