The announcement marks the third such interstate collaboration by the foundation, following similar arrangements with Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland to provide seamless access to specialised cancer care.
Under the new partnership, eligible cancer patients from Mizoram will be able to undergo treatment at Assam Cancer Care Foundation centres without incurring out-of-pocket expenses, with treatment covered under the Mizoram Universal Healthcare Scheme.
With this collaboration, the Assam Cancer Care Foundation now provides cashless treatment to patients from:
> Mizoram under the Mizoram Universal Healthcare Scheme (MUHCS)
> Arunachal Pradesh under the Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana (CMAAY)
> Nagaland under the Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS)
The initiative is expected to improve access to specialised oncology services for patients from neighbouring northeastern states by leveraging Assam's expanding cancer care network.
The Assam Cancer Care Foundation has been steadily strengthening regional healthcare cooperation, positioning Assam as a hub for advanced cancer treatment in the Northeast. The latest partnership is expected to further enhance access to timely diagnosis and treatment for cancer patients from Mizoram while reducing the financial burden on affected families.
