GUWAHATI: Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita met Afghanistan's Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Mawlawi Ataullah Omari, in New Delhi on Wednesday, July 8, to discuss various aspects of India-Afghanistan bilateral relations.

The meeting focused on ongoing cooperation for the welfare and development of the Afghan people, Margherita said in a post on X.
The Afghan minister Omari arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday for an official visit to India.
According to the Afghan Embassy in India, Omari, accompanied by a delegation from Afghanistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will hold meetings with his Indian counterparts and members of the Indian business community to discuss cooperation in agriculture, irrigation, investment, and other areas of mutual interest.
India has reiterated its commitment to working closely with Afghanistan to strengthen economic cooperation in a manner that delivers sustainable benefits to the people of both countries. The two countries share longstanding historical and cultural ties.
Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi, Afghan Minister of Industry and Commerce had visited India along with a trade delegation from November 19 to 25, 2025. During the visit, Minister Azizi met the External Affairs Minister of India S. Jaishankar. Both Ministers had discussed bilateral ties, connectivity and people to people exchanges.
