GUWAHATI: The new Assam government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to hold its first cabinet meeting on Wednesday, May 13, at 2 PM at the State Guest House in Koinadhara, Guwahati.
The meeting comes a day after Sarma and his council of ministers took oath following the BJP-led NDA’s emphatic return to power in the recently concluded Assembly elections, securing a third straight term for the alliance in the state.
The inaugural cabinet meeting is expected to focus on key governance issued and the government’s immediate agenda for the new term. Several major policy and administrative decisions are likely to be discussed during the session.
Issues related to the implementation of election promises, welfare schemes, infrastructure development, and administrative planning are expected to dominate the discussions. The meeting is also likely to provide an early indication of the government’s roadmap and strategic goals for the coming years.
Senior ministers inducted into the new cabinet are expected to attend the meeting, where discussions on departmental responsibilities and other important governance matters may also take place.
The BJP-led government, strengthened by a decisive electoral mandate, is expected to push ahead with its development-focused agenda under Sarma’s leadership as it begins its second innings in office.
