Assam Police Seize Narcotics Worth ₹14.5 Crore, Arrest Seven in Major Anti-Drug Operations


 

GUWAHATI: Assam Police have seized narcotic substances worth an estimated ₹14.5 crore in a series of successful anti-drug operations carried out in Sribhumi and Nagaon districts, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Thursday, June 18.

According to the Chief Minister, the operations were conducted by teams of the Sribhumi Police and Nagaon Police, leading to the recovery of a substantial quantity of narcotics and the arrest of seven individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking.

Sharing details on social media platform X, Sarma praised the efforts of the police personnel involved in the operations and reiterated the state government's commitment to combating the drug menace.

"Our war against drugs is absolute and unyielding. In a series of successful operations, Sribhumi Police and Nagaon Police seized narcotics worth ₹14.5 crore. Seven accused have been apprehended. The crackdown will continue!" the Chief Minister wrote.

Assam Police have intensified anti-narcotics drives across the state in recent years, targeting drug trafficking networks and cross-border smuggling routes. The latest seizures add to a growing list of major recoveries made as part of the government's ongoing campaign against illegal drugs.
