Bhooth Bangla feels like a familiar ride right from the start, largely because it brings back the Priyadarshan–Akshay Kumar combination. The film sticks to a simple, situational style of comedy, more about timing and reactions than loud or over-the-top jokes and that approach works quite well, at least for a while. There’s a sense of comfort in how the humour is set up, without trying too hard to be constantly funny.

The first half is where the film really clicks. The humour feels natural rather than forced, and the scenes move with a smooth, easy flow. There’s a certain lightness in the storytelling that keeps you engaged without demanding too much. The palace setting, along with a dance sequence, gives off a slight Bhool Bhulaiyaa vibe, but it never feels excessive or distracting. Instead, it adds to the mood while still allowing the film to maintain its own identity. Everything in this half feels controlled, well-paced, and enjoyable in a simple way.
Akshay Kumar is clearly the main reason the film works as much as it does. His comic timing remains sharp, and he handles both humour and emotional moments with ease. Rajpal Yadav, as Balli, brings great energy to the film and ends up stealing several scenes with his presence. Paresh Rawal, playing Jaggu, is reliable as always, and the chemistry between the three adds a lot of charm and familiarity that strengthens the overall experience.
Asrani adds presence through his expressions and dialogue delivery, while Tabu, despite a brief appearance, manages to leave a clear impression.
The second half, however, doesn’t hold up in the same way. It shifts more towards the story, introducing a twist along with heavier use of VFX. While the effects are decent enough, the film begins to lose its earlier grip. The humour becomes inconsistent, and it leans more on visual elements rather than the simple, character-driven comedy that worked so well before.
In the end, Bhoot Bangla is at its best when it keeps things light and focused on its characters. It may not stay consistent throughout, but it still remains an easy watch, mainly because of its performances and that familiar, comfortable style.
