The court also directed the seizure of Mahavir Aqua, a packaged drinking water unit located at Chhaygaon under the Soigaon Industrial Development Centre in Assam. The firm is reportedly owned by Sharma and has now come under judicial scrutiny as part of the expanding probe.
In a further step, the court ordered the freezing of bank accounts of several other individuals allegedly involved in financial transactions with Sharma, widening the ambit of the investigation.
The case had earlier been transferred to a fast-track court by the Gauhati High Court for detailed examination and expedited hearing. Following multiple days of continuous proceedings, the latest directives were issued on April 29.
During the April 28 hearing, counsel for Sharma argued that his client’s role was limited to managing stage performances of the singer and did not extend to matters concerning personal security.
Meanwhile, the court has concluded hearings on the bail applications of Siddharth Sharma and Shyamkanu Mahanta. The verdict on Mahanta’s bail plea is scheduled to be delivered on April 30, while the court has reserved its order on Sharma’s bail application until May 2.
