GUWAHATI: Fuel prices across India witnessed another hike on Tuesday, May 19, with petrol and diesel rates increasing by nearly ₹1 per litre in several major cities, adding to the financial strain on consumers already grappling with inflation and rising household expenses.

In Guwahati, petrol prices increased from ₹101.20 to ₹102.11 per litre, while diesel rates climbed from ₹92.49 to ₹93.44 per litre.
The latest revision comes just days after the Centre raised fuel prices by ₹3 per litre on May 15, marking the second increase within a week.
Among the metro cities, Delhi saw petrol prices rise by 87 paise to ₹98.64 per litre, while diesel became costlier by 91 paise, reaching ₹91.58 per litre.
Mumbai continued to have some of the highest fuel rates in the country. Petrol prices in the financial capital went up by 91 paise to ₹107.59 per litre, while diesel prices rose by 94 paise to ₹94.08 per litre.
In Chennai, petrol prices increased by 82 paise to ₹104.49 per litre, while diesel rates climbed by 86 paise to ₹96.11 per litre.
Kolkata recorded one of the sharpest hikes among major cities, with petrol prices surging by 96 paise to ₹109.70 per litre and diesel prices increasing by 94 paise to ₹96.07 per litre.
Jaipur also witnessed a significant rise, with petrol prices touching ₹108.91 per litre after a hike of 94 paise, while diesel rates increased by 92 paise to ₹94.15 per litre.
The continued rise in domestic fuel prices comes amid volatility in the global crude oil market. Brent crude has remained above USD 100 per barrel due to escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia, particularly involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
