The Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE) announced the postponement on Saturday, stating that the decision was taken after it received confidential information about a possible leak of the examination paper.
Acting on the tip-off, Bhiwandi Police conducted a raid at a location where several individuals were allegedly found in possession of material related to the examination. Officials of the Maharashtra State Examination Council were immediately called to verify the seized documents.
According to an official statement, investigators found that some of the questions recovered during the raid matched those in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) June 2026 question paper. A case has since been registered at Bhiwandi Police Station, and the investigation is underway.
The MSCE said a fresh date for the examination, along with further updates, will be announced on its official website.
The postponement has triggered a political row, with the Opposition criticising the state government over the alleged paper leak. Congress leaders accused the BJP-led government of failing to conduct examinations transparently and demanded a thorough investigation into the incident.
Maharashtra Congress president Harshawardhan Sapkal questioned the government's ability to hold fair examinations and warned of protests if strict action was not taken against those responsible for the alleged leak.
