Master Trainers' Training Programme Begins in Guwahati ahead of Census 2027


 

GUWAHATI: The four-day residential Master Trainers' Training Programme for the first phase of Census 2027 began at the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Lalmati, Guwahati, on Tuesday, June 8.

The programme, which will continue until June 12, is aimed at preparing a pool of trainers for the Houselisting and Housing Census (HLO), the first phase of the nationwide Census exercise.

A total of 59 Master Trainers are participating in the training, including 44 officials from various districts of Assam and 15 officials from the Directorate of Census Operations (DCO), Assam. These Master Trainers will subsequently train 1,109 Field Trainers, who will in turn impart training to 83,535 Enumerators and Supervisors, including reserve personnel, for the conduct of Census 2027 across the state.

The inaugural session was attended by senior officials from the Directorate of Census Operations, Assam, the General Administration Department of the Assam Government, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), among others.

The first day's technical sessions focused on training skills, census concepts, field procedures, operational protocols and the use of digital tools and applications designed for Census 2027. Interactive discussions and demonstrations were also conducted to familiarise participants with their responsibilities and training methodologies.

The programme is being led by four National Trainers, Bikash Nath, Nayan Moni Gogoi, Utpal Sharma and Md Chafikhur Rahman, from the Census Operations Directorates of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

The participants are being trained in two batches to facilitate focused learning and greater interaction. The training programme will continue over the next three days with intensive technical and practical sessions aimed at strengthening the capacity of Master Trainers before the rollout of district-level training programmes across Assam.
