GUWAHATI: National-level cyclist, athlete and mountaineer Aasha Malviya has reached Assam's Dibrugarh as part of her solo cross-country cycling expedition aimed at promoting women empowerment, patriotism and resilience.

The expedition began on January 11, 2026, coinciding with the 78th Indian Army Day, from Jaipur in Rajasthan. Malviya is cycling across the country towards Kibithu in Arunachal Pradesh, India's easternmost frontier, and is currently in the final phase of her journey.
Although the expedition was planned to cover around 7,800 kilometres, Malviya said she has already cycled over 8,120 kilometres during the ongoing journey.
Her route has taken her through Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Through the expedition, she hopes to encourage women and young people to pursue their goals while promoting national unity and service.
Speaking about her mission, Malviya said the journey is intended to spread the message of women's empowerment, patriotism and courage. She also said she has cycled nearly 64,000 kilometres across various expeditions this year as part of efforts to raise awareness on social issues through adventure sports.
