Speaking to the press after his arrival, Adhikari congratulated the people of Assam on the formation of the new government. He also expressed gratitude to BJP workers from Assam for their contribution to the party’s campaign efforts in West Bengal under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Adhikari said party workers from Assam had played an important role in strengthening the BJP’s organisational base in several states across the country. He further stressed the need for coordinated development among eastern and northeastern states, stating that Assam, Odisha, Bihar, and Sikkim should work together for the progress of the northeastern region.
Praising Himanta Biswa Sarma, Adhikari described the Assam chief minister as his “elder brother” and highlighted their close personal relationship. He said Sarma’s leadership and political approach were a learning lesson for him and termed the Assam CM a simple and grounded leader.
On the issue of infiltration, Adhikari said states like West Bengal would also adopt measures similar to those implemented in Assam and Tripura. He alleged that previous governments in West Bengal had failed to adequately support border security infrastructure and asserted that the BJP governments in Assam and Tripura had effectively addressed the issue of illegal infiltration.
