According to an official statement released by TTD, the Assam government has allocated 10.33 acres of land in the Sonapur area of Kamrup district for the proposed temple complex. The land transfer was completed on Tuesday, June 9, after all administrative formalities were concluded.
TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu confirmed that the temple body has officially taken charge of the site and is now preparing to begin the next phase of the project.
"The land allotted by the Assam Government has been formally handed over to TTD for the construction of a Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Guwahati," Naidu said.
The project is part of TTD's broader vision of extending spiritual services associated with Lord Venkateswara beyond Andhra Pradesh by developing temples in key urban centres across India.
The proposal received support from the TTD Trust Board and was pursued through sustained engagement between TTD representatives and officials of the Assam government. The initiative also enjoyed the backing of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
As part of the transfer process, the Metropolitan Deputy Commissioner of Assam formally handed over the land possession certificate to TTD representatives on Tuesday.
Naidu said preliminary arrangements for construction have already begun, and a Bhoomi Puja ceremony to mark the start of the project will be organised in the near future.
Once completed, the temple is expected to become an important religious destination for devotees from Assam and the northeastern states, while also fostering stronger cultural and spiritual connections between Assam and Andhra Pradesh.
