GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday, May 13, announced that the Assam Assembly session will begin from May 21, during which newly elected MLAs will take oath.

Speaking to the media, Sarma said the state cabinet would discuss later in the day how long the Assembly session would continue. He also clarified that the expansion of the state cabinet would take place only after the conclusion of the Assembly session.
“The Assembly session will begin from May 21. MLAs will take oath and today in the cabinet we will discuss how many days the session will continue,” Sarma said.
He further stated that a decision regarding the swearing-in of the remaining ministers would be taken after the Assembly session ends.
Himanta Biswa Sarma was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term on Tuesday, May 12, following the BJP-led NDA’s sweeping victory in the recently concluded Assembly elections.
Among those sworn in as ministers were BJP MLAs Ajanta Neog and Rameshwar Teli, AGP chief Atul Bora, and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) MLA Charan Boro.
