The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially declared the results of the Class XII final examination 2026, ending the worries of over 1.8 million students across the country. After a long wait, students can now check their results through the official CBSE website, Digi Locker and Umang app. Students need to use their Roll Number, School Number, Admit Card ID and Date of Birth to check the result. The server is a bit slow due to many students trying to check the results simultaneously on the website, so the board has provided access to the results through IVRS phone service and SMS as well. Marksheets downloaded from Digi Locker will be fully acceptable for college admissions and scholarships.
The overall pass rate this year is 85.20 percent, which is about three percentage points lower than last year’s 87.98 percent and the lowest in recent years. The drop in results has led to controversy among students and teachers. CBSE has made a major change in the verification of answer scripts Instead of the traditional method, digital or on-screen marking was introduced to bring more transparency and faster work in the process of producing results. More than 1.85 million students appeared in science, commerce and arts departments from February 17 to April 10 this year.
As usual this time also the results of girls are much better than boys. This year the pass rate for girls is 88.86 percent and the pass rate for boys is 82.13 percent. Besides, the pass rate of Hijra students is 100%. Looking at region-wise results, Trivandrum region tops the list with 95.62 percent pass. Chennai followed with 93.84 percent and Bangalore with 93.19 percent respectively. Delhi West and Delhi East regions also performed well, but Prayagraj region recorded the worst with 72.43 percent.
