Addressing the media during the visit, the Chief Minister said the initial phase of construction at the site has already begun, including work on a boundary wall project estimated at ₹3 crore.
He stated that measures have also been initiated to protect the site from possible landslides and ensure long-term structural safety of the memorial area.
According to the Chief Minister, the main development work of the Samadhi Khetra is expected to progress in a more structured manner once the boundary wall construction is completed.
Describing the site as a tribute to Assam’s musical legacy, Sarma said the memorial is being envisioned as a lasting homage to the voice, contribution and emotional connection associated with iconic Assamese singer Zubeen Garg.
The Chief Minister also reviewed ongoing works at the site during the visit and said the memorial would stand as a symbol honouring a cultural figure who continues to inspire generations across Assam.
