GUWAHATI: A sub-adult tiger was found dead in the Mihimukh area under the Kaziranga Range, Kohora, on May 30, with forest authorities unable to ascertain the cause of death due to the advanced decomposition of the carcass.

The carcass, estimated to be around four days old, was recovered at around 5 pm.
Following the discovery, the Director of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR) constituted a committee to conduct a post-mortem examination and oversee disposal of the carcass in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).
The post-mortem examination was carried out on May 31, but officials said the exact cause of death could not be determined due to the condition of the carcass. The remains were subsequently disposed of as per NTCA guidelines.
