GUWAHATI: Amid the controversy surrounding the removal of a portrait depicting singer Zubeen Garg at the Ganeshguri flyover, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday, July 10, said the issue was not about any individual but about the historical significance of the location.

Addressing the matter, the Chief Minister said Ganeshguri is remembered as the site of the deadly Ganeshguri blasts, where several people lost their lives, and therefore the space should honour the victims of terrorism.
He said the flyover should display portraits or artwork that commemorate those who were killed in the attack and serve as a lasting reminder of resolve against terrorism, rather than feature personalities.
"The issue is not about Zubeen Garg or any other individual. Ganeshguri is a place associated with the memories of those who lost their lives in the blasts. It should honour the terror victims and stand as a symbol against terrorism," Sarma said.
