State BJP President Samik Bhattacharya said preparations for the oath-taking ceremony are underway. He added that Amit Shah is expected to preside over the meeting of newly elected MLAs, where the legislative party leader and the next Chief Minister will be chosen.

The date of the ceremony coincides with Rabindra Jayanti, marking the birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

The BJP registered a landslide victory, winning 207 out of 294 seats in the Assembly, thereby ending the 15-year rule of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC). The TMC was reduced to 80 seats in the new Assembly.

In a major political upset, three-term Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lost from the Bhabanipur constituency to BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari.

Meanwhile, the BJP has appointed Amit Shah as the central observer for the selection of the legislative party leader in the state, with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi serving as co-observer for the process.
