Two brothers arrested in Rajasthan

The country’s medical entrance exam (NET UG) question paper has been leaked. Police arrested two brothers named Mangilal and Dinesh Biwal from Rajasthan. It is learned that on April 26, a week before the exam, they bought the NEET question paper for Rs 30 lakh from a doctor in Gurugram. The question paper was sold on April 29 to many other people for huge amount of money. The two accused brothers are residents of Jamwa Ramgarh in Rajasthan and one of them was preparing for medical entrance examination in Shikar. According to the investigators, this area was the main center of question paper leak.

The question paper allegedly went to MBBS counseling agent Rakesh Kumar Mandawariya from Ramgarh. Rakesh sold the question paper to the main coaching institute in the city and supplied it to a medical student in Kerala for Rs.30,0 thus the question papers spread around through a network. According to Rajasthan Police sources, the leak of question papers started from a printing press in Nashik and from there the questions went to doctors in Gurugram. After questioning the two brothers, it was found that they knew the question paper would be leaked a month ago. One of them, Dinesh, is also associated with a political party.

The exam was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 3 and around 2.3 million candidates appeared for the exam. However, in Rajasthan it was seen that some students got the possible question papers long before the exam. According to top police officer Vishal Banshan, out of 410 questions in that prospective paper, 120 chemistry questions and answer options also exactly matched the original question paper. Another source claims that out of 281 questions, 135 are identical to the original question paper. In this incident, the education system of the country has suffered a huge shock.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal have strongly criticized the central government over the scam. The 2024 NIT examination was also attended by allegations of widespread corruption and the opposition is enraged by the repeat of the same incident. The National Examinations Council (NEC) announced the cancellation of the NEET exam on May 3. The CBI has been given the responsibility of investigating the question paper leak. As a result, lakhs of talented students of the country have to sit for the exam again.
