GUWAHATI: Dima Hasao Police achieved a significant breakthrough in their ongoing crackdown against narcotics trafficking, arresting two individuals and seizing 446.62 grams of heroin during a targeted operation carried out on Wednesday, June 10.

The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs and was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Bitu Baishya. Acting on the information, a police team intercepted a pickup truck at Dolaichunga under the jurisdiction of Harangajao Police Station. The vehicle was reportedly travelling from Silchar.
The two occupants of the vehicle were identified as Kepas Kasa, the driver and a resident of Umkiang in Meghalaya, and Small Lyngdoh, the vehicle's helper, who is from Kalakhal in Assam's Cachar district. Both were taken into custody at the scene.
During a detailed search of the vehicle, police recovered 36 soap cases filled with heroin hidden inside a specially designed secret compartment located above the fuel tank. The seized narcotics weighed 446.62 grams.
Law enforcement authorities also confiscated the pickup truck allegedly used to transport the contraband, along with two mobile phones recovered from the accused.
Further investigation is underway.
