GUWAHATI: The flood situation in Assam has worsened, with the death toll rising to four and the number of affected people increasing to 37,032 across six districts, according to the latest report released by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).

The latest fatality was reported from the Chariduar Revenue Circle in Sonitpur district. Reports said the victim had gone missing on Monday night, and the body was recovered on Tuesday. Earlier, one person lost their life in Charaideo district, while two others died in Dhemaji district.
The six affected districts are Sonitpur, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Jorhat and Sivasagar.
A total of 99 villages have been affected by the floods, impacting 37,032 people. Authorities have opened 20 relief camps and relief distribution centres to provide shelter and assistance to those displaced by the rising waters.
The floods have also caused significant damage to agriculture, with 1,103.943 hectares of crop area reported to be submerged.
The impact has extended to livestock as well, with 16,139 animals affected and two animals washed away in the floods.
The state administration and disaster response agencies continue relief and rescue operations in the affected areas, while authorities are closely monitoring the situation as water levels remain high in several parts of the state.
