GMDA Revises Entry Fees for Guwahati Parks, Introduces Free Morning Access


 

GUWAHATI: In a move aimed at promoting a healthier lifestyle among residents, the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has announced free morning entry to all its parks across the city from July 5.

Under the new initiative, visitors will be allowed to enter GMDA-managed parks free of cost between 6:00 am and 10:00 am every day, encouraging more people to use the city's green spaces for walking, jogging and other fitness activities.

The decision marks a shift from the policy announced by then Urban Affairs Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah in November 2025, under which all parks and open spaces in Guwahati were made free for the public from December 1, 2025. Under that arrangement, visitors were only required to provide their name and phone number to obtain an entry pass.

The authority has also retained free entry at all times for children below nine years of age, senior citizens above 75 years, and specially abled persons.

For all other visitors, revised entry fees will be applicable outside the free morning hours. The updated rates are:

> Jorpukhuri Park, Uzan Bazar– ₹20
> Gandhi Mandap, Sarania Hill – ₹20
> Swahid Udyan, Ambari – ₹25
> Bastra Udyan, Sualkuchi  – ₹30
> Amrit Udyan, Hengrabari – ₹30
> Atal Udyan, Adabari – ₹30
> Shraddhanjali Kanan, R.G. Baruah Road – ₹30
> Nehru Park, Panbazar – ₹50
> Botanical Garden, Fancy Bazar – ₹60
> Sati Radhika Shanti Udyan, Uzan Bazar– ₹60
> Brahmaputra Riverfront Park, Panbazar– ₹60
> Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre, Panbazar – ₹150
> Guwahati Ropeway, Panbazar– ₹250 (one way)

According to GMDA, the revised fee structure is intended to support the maintenance and management of parks and recreational facilities while making them more accessible to the public. Residents have been encouraged to take advantage of the free morning entry and make regular use of the city's green spaces.
