GUWAHATI: India on Sunday, June 28, rejected Pakistan's allegations linking it to the recent terrorist attack on a Sindh Rangers compound in Karachi, calling the claims "baseless" and asking Islamabad to take action against terror infrastructure operating from its own territory.

In response to media queries, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We have seen Pakistani reports making baseless allegations against India regarding the recent incident in Karachi. We categorically reject them."
He added, "Instead of pointing fingers at others, Pakistan would do better to look inwards, take credible action against the terror infrastructure on its territory and rid itself of its proclivity to rely on terrorism as an instrument of state policy."
The MEA's response came a day after Pakistani authorities said they had foiled a militant attack on the Sindh Rangers' Bhittai Wing headquarters in Karachi's Gulistan-e-Jauhar area. Pakistani officials said six militants were killed and one injured attacker was captured alive during the operation, while four Rangers personnel also lost their lives.
Pakistani authorities identified the attackers as members of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a faction of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which claimed responsibility for the assault. Officials said Special Security Unit commandos and the Anti-Terrorist Force joined Rangers personnel in the counter-operation, during which the Rangers compound and surrounding roads were sealed and residents in nearby areas were advised to remain indoors.
