The state's power framework currently rests on a network of 82 operational substations, a grid capacity of 10,000 MVA, and a 5,300 CKM transmission network. To meet future energy demands, the government said it is expanding this capacity with 16 new substations under construction, an additional 6,340 MVA capacity in the pipeline, and 957 CKM of new transmission lines currently being commissioned.

The state government also highlighted that it has achieved full digitalisation of Government-to-Business (G2B) services through the Inspectorate of Electricity. Assam secured first position in the National Energy Conservation Award (NECA-2025) for the fifth consecutive year, underscoring the state's continued focus on energy efficiency.

Infrastructure development has been further strengthened through investments exceeding ₹9,000 crore under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), along with the successful commissioning of key projects, including a 70 MW solar power plant at Bilasipara.

The Centre's flagship rooftop solar scheme, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, continues to scale in the state, having already benefited 1.30 lakh consumers with over 430 MW of installed capacity.

With the fresh allocation of ₹2,579 crore, the government aims to sustain momentum on grid expansion, renewable energy integration, and digital service delivery in the power sector in the coming fiscal year.
